Working in the field of metal framing makes it possible to deal with works in different formats, ranging from the smallest to the biggest. Over the last 2 months, VEXA has taken care of the construction of a metal structure for a roof cover of a building in Switzerland (the MUDAC museum in Lausanne). It is a big-size project, since the complete structure is more than 2,000 sqm large, with a total weight of 170 tons.

Based on the project initiated by thepurchaser, VEXA subdivided the design into several subgroups, so as to simplify the construction. With the workshop drawings and the material provided by our customer, we then went on with the preconstruction of the single elements. Our personnel executed the making of the pieces, their assembly in subgroups and – always respecting the specific requests – the welding of the components. At the same time, we also built a template, thanks to which it was possible to compose the parts, creating a total number of 54 trestles.

Once the trestles were welded, we then moved on to the preassembly at the workshop (coupling the trestles), verifying the entire structure as a whole. When also this step was over, VEXA technicalpersonnel executed the NDT  (nondestructive) tests and also the visual, magnetic-particle and ultrasound tests. To deliver the trestles that will be composing the roof cover of the museum building in Switzerland, it was necessary to organise 27 shipments on means for exceptional transport.

To enhance the management of this production order, VEXA put into practice the experience of its technical personnel and specialised workers, aiming especially at optimising the time factor and at developing the relationship with the customer. In order to meet the delivery deadline, it was actually necessary to organise the work on double shifts, respecting the intermediate due dates of the planning required for the progressive shipment of the trestles. VEXA is proud to have successfully met the agreed timings and it is even prouder of the relationship developed with the purchaser. Together with the customer, we coordinated the setting of the work, proceeding with a growing trust in its execution.
